USA Trip - Part I
February to May 1996 Overview
The following is an overview of the impressions formed during the first part of our tour
We are very happy with the RV and the way it handles, so far we have driven (towing the Suzuki tow car) about 800 miles. Everything in the RV is working very well and there is plenty of living space. Insurance and registration for the RV have been very easy but the car has proved to be more difficult and even today we still await the tags (number plate) for the car.
We have so far stayed at six campsites all have been good with full facilities. We have been amazed at how friendly and helpful everybody has been. We are being treated like a novelty and everybody stops to talk, asking numerous questions about us, the UK and the Royal family. It is almost getting to the point where the moment we get outside the motor home somebody appears and starts talking.
On one camp ground a couple from Ohio not only gave us a lot of good advice but also gave us wooden blocks for levelling the RV, gloves to avoid splinters, RV magazines and then a nice rug for the RV floor. As we parted they even gave us postcards and stamps and only asked that we send them a postcard as we travel around the States - Yes everybody is very friendly but at this time of the year most are Snowbirds from the northern States, so are away from home themselves.
What about the weather?
In the main, the weather has been good and very hot at times but on a couple of occasions, it has become cold with temperatures of 25F at night and about 45F during the day. However, on average, it has been much better than back home! >>>
